_ The
photography of In Hot Pursuit of Color was first birthed in April 2008. It
was the month that my first DSLR camera arrived at my door step, a
Canon Rebel xTi. What a glorious day that was. From that day
forward I have been a daily photographer capturing my family's life and
anything else that comes before me. It has been one of the most amazing adventures of my life.
Along the journey I have had many growth spurts of learning, or I should say many "that's how you do that!" moments. There was a very memorable growth spurt for me that happened during my trip to Hawaii the spring of 2009. It was on that trip that the Lord placed the philosophy for my photography on my heart; In Hot Pursuit of Color. If you are truly interested in the long story, you can head here. Short story though is that I crave color, even during the wintertime in Central Minnesota. I love to hunt down color wherever I can find it. Whether I am taking pictures of a client or shooting for fun, I will often being looking to capture beautiful color.
Each year I have added new equipment as I have learned what my personal style is and what I need to accomplish those goals. In
2009 I acquired a Canon 50 1.8 lens. I enjoyed adding it to my
collection to experiment more with food photography and indoor shooting. The next year I
added a Tamron 18-270 to capture more every day moments from close up
and far away. One my favorite lenses adopted into the fold in 2011 was my Canon 60mm Macro lens. I use it for macro shooting and it does an amazing job as a portrait lens. I also learned that I do not enjoy shooting with a flash and began labeling myself as a natural light photographer.
More recently I have added one more portrait lenses and upgraded my camera to a Canon 7d. All the levels of growth have have led
me to where I am today, a lifestyle photographer pursuing color. After years of
practicing on my family and friends, the Lord has given me a passion for
being a portrait photographer for you.
